Softer and rarer than cashmere, Qiiviut is the wool that comes from muskox and is gathered by hand. In the spring the wool from wild muskox naturally falls off in clumps or is rubbed off by muskox on the ground or bushes. Most muskox live in the Arctic or in the deep North and the muskox’s coat protects it against the extreme cold. The muskox has a three-layered coat and Qiviut is the soft downy undercoat beneath the secondary hair and the longer coarse outer quadrant. It is one of the lightest and warmest of all the natural fibers in the world.

incredibly soft. Most hats of this style are snug and put too much pressure around my head over time, and while this hat is stretchy, it doesn't hug my head as tight as say, a wool or acrylic hat like this. Only critique is, where the brim of the hat folds, there's a defined crease, making it hard (or impossible) to adjust the size of the brim (ideally, the hat would have a slightly larger brim, it sits a little low on my forehead, but at the end of the day, the comfort far outweighs this preference)
